What Is A Life Coach?

A life coach is someone who can help you find your way from where you are now to where you want to go. It is a professional relationship with someone who can bring out the best in you. It is a relstionship with someone who will encourage you to surpass self-imposed limitations and urge you on until you have reached your full potential. Your coach serves as your guide and advisor. You are the one who still needs to do the work. The advantage of having a coach is that there is always someone in your corner, believing in you, when you aren't sure you can make it.

The ultimate life coach had to have been Christ. As a matter of fact, He is still the ultimate life coach. Your earthly life coach simply points you in His direction and encourages you to keep on going. This relationship is similar to the one that the Apostle Paul referred to in 1 Corinthians 11:1:

"Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ"

A true life coach will always point you to Christ.

How Coachable Are You?

The following questions should help you determine if you should hire a life coach.

Do you have time to invest in yourself?

Are you able to keep your word and promises to others as well as yourself without it being a giant struggle?

Is there a big gap between where you are and where you want to be?

Are you willing and able to do the hard work that will be required of you?

Can you give up self-sabatoging behaviors that hinder your progress?

Are you brave enough to try new ideas even when you are not convinced that they will work?

Do you have a support system to back you as you make big changes in your life?

Are you responsible and accountable for the changes that you make in your life?

If you answered no to two or more of these questions you may not be ready for life coachihg. You might want to spend some time in therapy and then give us another try.
